These were normally my favorite but the most recent bag I got had rancid tasting nuts. Had to throw out the whole bag. What a waste. These are ROASTED hazelnuts most definitely NOT raw! We have had many pounds of raw hazelnuts before & immediately noticed these are roasted not raw (although the bag says they are raw) ?Product: Wilderness Poets, Oregon Hazelnuts - Organic, Raw, Whole Nuts with Skins, No Shells (8 Ounce)Nuts are one of the few things I actually love to snack on that are healthy. I really like hazelnut flavoring, so I’m not sure why I don’t think about adding them into my snack nut rotation. I think it’s because they don’t carry them in my local grocery store, so I just don’t tend to think about them. Thank goodness for Amazon. These are nice hazelnuts in raw form. I’m finding eating nuts raw, but they give me the option to do other things with them if I want. I haven’t done so with these; I’ve just been eating them raw since they are good just as they are. I like that they are organic and don’t contain anything extra. So many nuts that are roasted or flavored have sodium, which I’m trying to cut back on. They are a decent size and are whole for the most part. They make a good presentation if you want to use them on a charcuterie board. They taste fresh (my bag had an expiration date good for about 1 ½ years. They are a product of the US coming from Oregan. At $12 for 8 oz they are a bit pricey, but pretty much competitive for a quality, organic product. I have enjoyed these and don’t have any complaints.Excellent value for whole, shelled hazel nuts. My favorite thing is to put them on ice cream. You will be delighted if you buy these. So good.My particular bag tasted a lot like nothing. I'm not sure if other bags have more flavor or more existence. My bag didn't have either of those qualities.I got these to do some experimenting with making hazelnut paste for homemade ice cream. I of course tasted these on their own before, and they're quite good. They're raw with skins on, so for ideal results, they can be enjoyed raw or lightly roasted. I ended up roasting and salting them a little before grinding them up into a paste. The results were excellent; almost on par with some of the gelatos I've gotten in Europe, where hazelnut is so popular. These are not priced in a way that would be sustainable for me to use them commercially, but for my home experiments, they are a nice option.I think hazel nuts are my favorite nut and these are great! I'm not too coordinated with a nut cracker so having hazel nuts de-shelled is such a bonus! They are great plain but they are AMAZING with chocolate covered coffee beans. I eat one bean with 4 to 5 hazel nuts... YUM!Hazelnuts are one of the easiest nut varieties to crack, but these are shelled and even easier to eat too many of. While I have had fresher, they are better than typical grocery store brands and all of them were whole. That would also make them great for decorative uses in baking. The pouch is also perfect for keeping them fresh between uses. If you are looking for shelled hazelnuts, I recommend these.
